Evalu-8 Featured in Project Scotland: Discussing Rail Safety and Project Handover

Evalu-8 has been featured in Project Scotland, a publication covering Scotland’s construction industry, with an article about the information that needs to be passed on when railway improvement projects are completed.

The article, “Rail resilience projects require a strong handover”, was written by Josh McNicholas from Evalu-8 EHS and published on 13 October 2026.

Network Rail has invested £130 million over two years in protecting Scotland’s railway from extreme weather, including improvements to drainage systems and earthworks.

Josh discusses what happens when contractors finish a project and the responsibility for maintaining the railway passes to another team. Although the work might be completed, the people taking over still need to understand what has changed, what needs inspecting and which risks remain.

For example, a new drainage system might work perfectly when it’s installed, but maintenance teams need to know when it should be checked and what to do if problems develop.

The article covers six questions project teams should consider before handing over their work, including inspection requirements, maintenance responsibilities and who should be contacted when something goes wrong.

When information is stored across different documents or systems, important details can be missed, particularly when several contractors have worked on the same project.

Evalu-8 EHS allows businesses to manage inspections, risk assessments, corrective actions and safety documents in one place, making records easier to access when responsibility moves between teams.

For railway projects, making sure maintenance teams receive the right information can prevent confusion once the original contractors have left the site.
