Evalu-8 has been featured in Motor Transport, the UK road freight and logistics publication, in an article about responsibility for load safety before a vehicle leaves the depot.
Written by Josh McNicholas from Evalu-8 and published on 6 August 2026, “The consignor’s responsibility does not end at the depot gate” questions the assumption that load safety becomes the driver’s problem as soon as the lorry pulls away.
A driver can check straps, restraints and visible damage, but they may not know how a load was packed or whether its weight has been distributed properly. By that point, mistakes made during loading can be difficult to spot.
Josh considers the part played by consignors, warehouse staff and transport operators. If several businesses are involved in one delivery, it needs to be clear who is checking what, and how concerns are passed on before the keys are handed over.
The article also makes the case for keeping useful records of loading checks and dealing with problems when they are reported. A completed form is little help if nobody has checked that the load is secure.
For haulage businesses, this is worth discussing with everyone involved in preparing vehicles, not just drivers. A conversation between the warehouse and transport teams could pick up a problem before it reaches the road.
Evalu-8 EHS gives businesses a place to manage risk assessments, inspections, safety documents and follow-up actions, so checks and concerns are easier to record and review across different sites and busy daily operations.
